50 Cent raps up concert in Bucharest

June 18th, 2006 · No Comments

Currently sitting at the top, American rapper 50 Cent brought hip-hop to the crammed public in Bucharest’s Arenele Romane venue Wednesday evening.

The rapper’s show was opened by Parazitii who tried to warm up the atmosphere with old hits and new songs as number of spectators grew with the approach of 50 Cent’s time to take the stage. The American rapper started his concert with a short movie projected on two screens left and right of the stage which traced back the story of the singer from his unhappy childhood to the moment when he was shot nine times and eventually to the moments when his career took off.

Dressed in large trousers, a white T-shirt and a blue shirt and cap and sporting extravagant jewelry, the rapper entered the stage with DJ Whoo Kid and Young Buck. About 4,000 people filled Arenele Romane and chanted in unison with the artist on the rhythms of his most well-known songs like “Pimp,” “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “In Da Club,” “Piggy Bank” or the more recent “Window Shopper.” In spite of the chilly and sometimes rainy weather, the public stayed to the end. Crammed in front of the stage or standing up on the chairs on the platform, the public was also happy to see the rapper accompanied by Olivia in songs such as “Candy Shop.”

50 Cent Loves Fat Kids

June 18th, 2006 · No Comments

50 Cent has signed on as spokesperson and judge in a cooking competition for high school students sponsored by Glaceau, makers of Vitamin Water.

The competition hopes to help prevent childhood obesity by changing high school students eating habits for the better. The contest is open to student chefs in cities including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Seattle who will compete for the most “nutrient rich” cafeteria lunch recipe. The contest winner will earn a $100,000 college scholarship.

While 50 is well renowned for his excellent physique, he admits that he hasn’t always been the model of health. “I had all of the unhealthy habits,” 50 admitted via a statement. “Soda…a lot of fast food, all of those things.”

Today he’s a changed man, one who exercises and eats right. In addition to sponsoring and judging the Glaceau competition, last year the rapper bought a share of Glaceau Vitamin Water and created his own drink, a low calorie grape flavored Vitamin Water called Formula 50.

In related news, 50 recently signed on to star alongside Nicholas Cage in a boxing film titled The Dance.

50 Cent Off The Hook In Murder Trial

June 18th, 2006 · No Comments

An Allegheny County Court judge in Pittsburgh ruled that 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Trying movie won’t be heard by jurors in a murder trial.

Larue Graves, 30, formerly of Aliquippa, BeaverCounty, is charged with homicide in the November 9th killing of Shelton Lemarr Flowers. The murder in question took place in November of last year. Flowers, 30, of Wilkinsburg, PA, was fatally shot near a concession stand inside a Loews multiplex shortly after watching Get Rich. The fight reportedly broke out into the multiplex’s bathroom before spilling out onto the concession stand where the shots were fired. Police said the two men had been beefing since they spent time in jail together roughly ten years ago.

Graves’ lawyer, Lisa g. Middleman, contended that the flick’s drug references and gun violence have nothing to do with the murder case and would push the jury against his client. Attorneys began selecting jurors to hear the case this morning. While the jury will hear the movie’s title, Judge John K. Reilly Jr. ruled that they won’t hear details of the movie during the trial.
